YOUTH CHRISTMAS PLAY
Sun. Jan. 4 - 10:30 am – “No Strings Attached”
THE MITTEN TREE
A big “thank you” to everyone who contributed towards this church project, from the knitters to the people that donated wool and other items. This year the items were distributed to the Lutheran Urban Ministry, our Food Bank, and in the Christmas Hampers. We are always looking for wool, so please consider donating some. Some of the long time knitters can’t do too much knitting now, so I am definitely on “the hunt” for some replacement knitters J. There is wool at the entrance to the church, so feel free to take some. If you’re looking for patterns, please speak to me. Items need to be done by November 2009.
Happy knitting in 2009!
Linda Edel
CHRISTMAS HAMPERS
Eight hampers were assembled and delivered on December 16th. Thank you to those who did the shopping, those who helped with assembly and delivery, and all who contributed. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
FRIDGE UPDATE
As of December 21st $1891.56 has been received towards the new fridge. The purchase cost was $2041. Thank you!!!
ANNUAL MEETING
Our St. Luke’s Zion annual meeting is planned for Sunday, February 15, 2009 following worship and a “sandwich & dainties” lunch. The annual report will be available two weeks prior to the meeting so that you have time to read it. Please plan on attending if you are able!
STAINED GLASS
Some interest has been expressed in donating stained glass windows for the back of the sanctuary (the windows that currently are clear). If there are any families who might be interested in donating a window in memory of a loved one, please speak to Pastor Lynne. The probable cost is not yet known.
FESTIVAL OF PRAYER 2009
Once again a “Festival of Prayer” will be held from January 18 – 25, 2009 to mark the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. This year’s theme is That they may become one in your hand (Ezekiel 37:17). The Festival of Prayer will begin with a City-wide Ecumenical Worship Celebration at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday January 18th at Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Road, Winnipeg. All are cordially invited to this opening celebration and to participate in the various services that will be held each evening throughout the week-long Festival of Prayer. For more information, please see the “FESTIVAL OF PRAYER” poster on the church bulletin board. May this upcoming Week of Prayer help Christians to embody the true peace, reconciliation, and unity which is to be found among God’s people!
