RAHAB
Women love to hear Stories of other women To share with each other Their hopes and their dreams
Here now is a story Not often told Of Rahab the harlot In Israel's days of old.
The city of Jericho Was under siege By Joshua's army Of God fearing freed slaves.
To the house of sin Israel's two spies entered in A bargain they made With Rahab, the madame within.
On the flat roof top Under bundles of hay She hid the two spies From King Jericho's men. Then out over the wall She secreted the men Who fled to the mountains Where Joshua awaited The report of what they had seen.
After seven days of marching Around the city of Jericho With trumpets a blasting The walls came tumbling down.
Had Johsua forgotten The promise given Rahab The promise of salvation For her and all her kin?
Joshua, a man of faith His word secure He ordered this decree As the city they entered in.
"Search out the house For this sign A scarlet cord Hanging from the window wall."
And so it was Rahab and all her kin Were saved by faith and trust In the words of Joshua's spies. Her faith had been based On the stories she had heard How God of these Israelites Had led them out of Egypt
Had led them through the wilderness Had protected them every step of the way. In this faith, she too believed God would protect her too.
And God did. by Anna McDonald Sept. 18th, 1999
