For those who would like to join in our online worship, here's how to do it:
-Sign into your Facebook account and search for @stlukeszion. Video will not appear until the live stream begins, usually a few minutes before 10:30 am.
You can also view it any time after that.
-No Facebook account, go to Facebook.com/stlukeszion. Click on "Not now" when it asks you to sign in or to sign up. You should be able to view the service any time after 10:30 on the same day as it is recorded.
Thank you to all of you who have joined our Sunday Worship Services online and who have sent in their offerings by mail, e-transfers and in-person.
Your offerings are greatly appreciated.
THE MITTEN BASKET:
All items for this project should be in by Sunday, October 29th. Hopefully we will have some lovely items which will be distributed to a few Inner City Schools and given out at the Urban Mission. Also, if you have any good used children’s or adult winter items (hats, scarves, gloves, mitts, coats, boots) please consider donating them as they definitely can be used by many people. The Urban Mission is always needing these types of items especially for men. Thank You ~ Linda
LADIES GROUP: LUM Luncheon
Part of our ongoing support of The Urban is providing a bag lunch once each year. October 29 is the date set aside for us this 2023. We will have an assembly line stile gathering on Saturday, October 28 at 10:00am. Please consider participating in this project. Help is surely appreciated; shopping for supplies, assembling the bags on Saturday, delivering the bags to The Urban on Sunday or a financial contribution. Thank you for joining in with this project that has been a part of our mission for many years. As Jesus taught “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me” Matthew 25:40. This co-ordinated effort is provided by the Ladies Group, all are welcome.
~Beverley

TRINITY FOOD PANTRY:
The Trinity Food Pantry (TFP) continues to operate out of Trinity Place at Flora and King. This was the home of the former Trinity Lutheran Church. Ownership of the building passed to Aberdeen Mennonite Church. The Archdiocese of Winnipeg purchased the building. Trinity Place is now the home of Saint Katerie Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church. Aberdeen Mennonite Church continues to worship in the multi-purpose room.
During COVID Harvest Manitoba experienced a great increase in demand for food. Hamper distribution was reduced from every two weeks to every four weeks. During COVID TFP also experienced a decline of in-kind donations because congregations did not gather for worship. TFP continues to supplement the hampers with fresh produce and high protein foods.
TFP would appreciate receiving contributions of high protein foods, such as canned meats and fish, vegetables, soups and peanut butter. There is also a need for women’s sanitary products. With Thanksgiving just weeks away congregations may want to adopt one or two of these projects. Cash donations are aways welcome and are used to purchase fresh produce and high protein foods for hamper distribution. Checks marked Trinity Food Pantry made out to Grace Lutheran Church are greatly appreciated.
TFP presently provides hampers to 24 households that include 58 adults and 33 children (3 infants). Coffee and cookies are served on hamper day in a Coffee Corner. TFP volunteers and staff from Saint Katerie interact with hamper recipients. It is a time to just sit and listen to their stories.

SLZ BAND:
‘The Band’’ here at St Luke’s Zion began in September 2019; the first live performance was September 8, 2019. We have been so blessed to have the band lead our Worship Music. All of the band members are a great asset during our Worship Services. Craig, Chris, Madison, Thera and Pastor Lynne as well as Paul and Faith who were both members for a short while.
We want you all to know that we enjoy your music very much and we are very thankful for each one of you.
Each band member works full-time and or attends University. They practice most Thursday evenings as well as Sunday mornings before Worship.
During Covid the band was a huge part of our LiveStream Worship Services. On most Sunday mornings the band played in an empty church as well as maintaining social distances.
We would like to Thank each one of you for sharing your talents with us. You are all a Blessing.
Over the past years there have been mentions about a name for The Band…maybe now is the right time to find a suitable name for this wonderful band.
If you have any suggestions that you would like to submit for the band to consider, please let the band know – In person it would be helpful if you submitted your suggestion on a piece of paper or you can email your suggestion to stlukeszionchurch@gmail.com
This will be a lot of fun!!!
Thank You
SLZ
O Heavenly Father:
We thank Thee for food and remember the hungry.
We thank Thee for health and remember the sick.
We thank Thee for friends and remember the friendless.
We thank Thee for freedom and remember the enslaved.
May these remembrances stir us to service.
That Thy gifts to us may be used for others. Amen.
– Abigail Van Buren
