SLZ WORSHIP SERVICE DURING CoVid19:
Since March 22nd our worship services have been live streamed online on the St. Luke’s Zion Facebook page. If you missed them, you are still able to view the videos if you have a Facebook account.
The worship services have been appreciated and welcomed by many. The SLZ Band blessed us with their music on March 29th.
We are blessed to have the technology to still be able to connect with our church family and beyond.

We are updating our email information so that the newsletters can be emailed to you all during this pandemic. We will continue to mail out to those who do not have internet.
If we do not have your current information and you would like to be included please email your information to stluzi@mymts.net.
Stay Safe!!! May God Bless You All

ST. LUKE’S ZION’S GOT TALENT & LUNCHEON:
Due to the CoVid19 virus we were not able to hold our annual SLZ’s Got Talent & Luncheon at the church on Sunday, March 29th. We will still hold the Silent Auction when this pandemic is over. Date TBA
If you are interested, we can have the talent show on the St. Luke’s Zion Lutheran Church Facebook page. You can make a video of your talent and post it on your facebook page and share it to the church facebook page. Just remember that the church facebook page is public so if you don’t want your video out there then don’t post your video.
We do have people interested in doing it this way.
So, what do you say; are you in?
If you are interested please let Joanne Janzen know either by emailing the church at stluzi@mymts.net or joannejanzen007@mymts.net
SUNDAY SCHOOL RUBBER BOOT FUNDRAISER
Unfortunately, this fundraiser will take longer than we thought due to the CoVid19 virus. We are asking you to please hold on to your rubber boots until after the pandemic is over. We will still be collecting monetary donations through offerings which can be included with your weekly/monthly offerings – just make sure you clearly mark that is it for the Sunday School Rubber Boot Fundraiser. We do have a number of pairs of boots and $95.00 in monetary donations to date; however, we are nowhere close to out goal which is to provide rubber boots to all the homeless who frequent the ‘Immaculate Conception Drop in Center’ located at Euclid & Austin St.
Thank You
Joanne Janzen, Sharon Appler & the Sunday School Children & Parents.

MNO SYNOD:
Please visit the MNO website at mnosynod.org for updates on the CoVid19 situation and other news as well…like…
Your Pastors and Deacons are working incredibly hard to develop plans and resources for worship, study, pastoral care, and community responses. The synod will continue to provide updates as they are available. In the meantime, please pray for your leaders (rostered and lay) as they engage in new ways of ministering to our congregation.
We have provided a solution for congregations to continue receiving your financial support. Through our webpage you are able to donate to your congregation or synod ministry by credit card or PayPal. Please continue to support your local congregation.
Social isolation presents a significant mental health concern. Please stay connected with each other by phone, email, video, social media, etc. This is a crucial time for us to live out the gospel in our service to others. Please also consider how you can reach out to your neighbours, friends, and families – particularly seniors and other people vulnerable to infection.
Many businesses will face significant financial challenge. If you are shopping online, please try to support local businesses. Consider doing your Christmas shopping now in order to provide some income to smaller businesses.

Palliative Manitoba 2020 Grief Seminars:
Bereavement Services
Death is a natural part of life and finding one’s way through grief is to discover that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Your experience of grief will be unique. Grieving is normal, but it can be difficult, and support after a loved one’s death can be helpful.
Telephone Bereavement Program
Palliative Manitoba offers one-to-one telephone support by trained volunteers for grieving individuals throughout Manitoba.
This program offers a safe environment to grieving individuals where they can speak openly about their feelings. Each individual can expect to receive a weekly call from a trained volunteer once a match has been made. A match can last for 12 – 15 months.
Please note this is not a 24 hour service or a crisis line. This is not professional counselling but rather a friendly support. Clients will be matched with a volunteer following an intake with a Palliative Manitoba staff member. This may take several weeks to be assigned to a volunteer depending on how busy we are.
Please call our office for more information or to sign up for service at 204-889-8525.
For those in crisis please contact Klinic Crisis Line at 204-786-8686

STORIES FROM SLZ YOUTH
How corona has affected my life so far
You all probably know all about covid-19 and its affects on the world, but I’m going to talk a little bit about how it’s been affecting my life from a teenagers perspective. The thought of no school for three weeks at first was really exciting, but a day or two in, I missed it. I miss the social interaction with people and genuinely its not the same. Class is a lot easier online, it’s just different and I prefer actually going to school. I can still communicate with my friends but the lack of social interaction face to face is really difficult and sad. Being cooped up in my house all day not really being able to go out besides the casual walk to the mailbox is pretty boring. This experience so far is really making me appreciate school and being able to leave my house. Because now that I can’t, it really has me thinking. Some people can’t leave their houses ever because of their circumstances, though we don’t know how long this will last we know it wont be forever. It’s still boring though, and I truly can’t wait for it to be over. Hearing all of what’s happening on the news is also scary, the fact that people are dying from this and so many people have been affected is just really sad, and my prayers go out to them.
This pandemic is really teaching me to appreciate the freedom I have and appreciate school, it’s a life lesson to not take things for granted, and even though it’s a bad thing that caused it we should take some good life lessons out of this. Thankyou
Thera G.
My CoVid19 experience
Covid-19 has greatly impacted me and my family. when we would normally go out to see our friends we are forced into isolation and our only contact with each other on the phone. All my favourite hobbies and sports have been taken away from me, which has been very difficult as sports was my escape from reality. Covid-19 has definitely impacted my school work which makes it harder for me to learn and get my 10th grade education.
Me and my family are sending prayers to everyone and anyone who needs it in these tough times.
Breazy D.-W.
Covid-19
has caused a very rough start for 2020. This is my senior year of high school and I’m slowly realizing how much is being taken away from me. Things that I have looked forward to for the past 12 years are no longer happening such as my Europe trip, and getting to be part of grad committees and fundraisers at school. However, this is just one way that it has been affecting my life. For others it is much worse when those around them or themselves are sick. It’s very hard to see any positives during this rough time but there are a few such as how there are blue skies in China and Italy’s canals are clear enough to see fish. To me It’s important to find the light in something while amidst chaos.

Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change...
Courage to change the things I can,
And Wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
Amen.
