LUTHER VILLAGE: As we reflect upon the 2019 season we are so thankful that we were able to recover from the storm last fall and have camp up and running with new roads and upgraded drainage. Thank you to all of the staff, volunteers, campers and the Luther Village community for a successful season in Outdoor Ministry. Please continue reading to take a glimpse into a few of the many new and exciting additions to the camp this summer. Community Potlucks Each Friday during family camp Luther Village hosted a potluck in the campground. We had over 100 people sharing a meal together each week! We are excited to continue this new tradition into the years to come. Mark the Camp Goat Luther Village got a pet goat this season named Mark (he has an exclamation mark on his back)! Mark was a wonderful addition to the camp and has quickly become a staple to our community. Mark joined us to help eliminate food waste, cut the grass and build community! GaGa Ball This new game located by the beach has been busy non-stop with people of all ages this summer! It has become a hit with kids campers, family campers, and rental groups. GaGa ball is a game similar to dodge-ball, if you are curious, please join us for a round next season! Solar Project Luther Village installed a 9.4 kw solar panel system this spring. The solar project was made possible from a generous donation from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winnipeg in memory of Mr. Roy Schendel. The power generated from the solar panels is being sold back to the grid to help offset our monthly electricity bill. Thank you to all of the campers, staff, volunteers and larger Luther Village community for a successful season of renewal of mind, body and soul on the shores of Dogtooth Lake.
