SUNDAY SCHOOL WIND-UP:
a HUGE Thank You to everyone who helped out last Sunday. Your help by setting up, cooking, bringing food to share and help cleaning up after is very much appreciated. The kids certainly had a great time playing games & winning prizes, and all the kids big and small also enjoyed the glitter tatoo’s!
It was a lot of fun for everyone.
Thank you to Dennis Appler for creating the beautiful carnival prop for pictures – we will treasure this and use it again and again!!!
SUNDAY SCHOOL RUBBER BOOT FUNDRAISER During this year’s ‘Meeting Our Neighbours’ during Lent Peter Solilak spoke on March 20th about the homeless who frequent the Imaculate Conception Drop in Center located at Euclid & Austin St.
This session was an eye opener about this society & their challenges. The biggest surprise was to learn that their biggest challenge is “the rain”. Wow! How this keeps them from eating as they do not have the footwear necessary to keep their feet and or socks dry. I am sure that many of us have had a wet sock experience perhaps only for a few hours. How blessed we are to have a place to change into dry socks; a luxury they do not have. Since that day every day I have thought about ‘boots’ they need rubber boots.
SLZ Sunday School will begin this fundraising drive on May 26th at the wind-up. We will accept gently worn and new rubber boots, as well as monetary donations. If you prefer you can put your donation through your weekly offering – please ensure you mark your donation as ‘SS RUBBER BOOTS’.
We will also have a donation box in the cloak room at St. Luke’s Zion.
Our goal is to provide rubber boots to all those who depend on this soup kitchen for their food by the Spring of 2020. Watch for updates.
Thank You
Joanne Janzen, Sharon Appler & our Sunday School Children
Update:
We have officially begun our fundraising drive May 26th and are happy to say to date we raised $40.00 cash and have 7 pairs of rubber boots!
