N.E.S.T. NEWS:
We are still awaiting word re: our sponsored refugee’s from the Sudan and Congo. Mr. Mair who is continually in touch with Canada Immigration in Nairobi has been given some hope they may arrive in several weeks barring any unforeseen circumstance. The wait has been some 8 years since applications were made.
The ISSA family from Iraq are doing well. They have a number of medical appointments. Eyeglasses were prescribed for the family. They are currently attending the Assiniboine Dental Group Clinic. The parents need the most work. The costs are covered by the Federal Health Program, and whatever costs are not covered this dental group will continue the care at their own expense and time. Volunteer interpreters are needed for all appointments. The mother SLVANA has been attending ESL since May 1st, the 11 year old daughter MARYAM has been registered for junior high school in September 2016, and the 4 year old daughter MELANA has been registered for kindergarten in the fall. Messiah Lutheran is the caregivers.

URBAN UPDATE:
Lutheran Urban Worship and Luncheon, will be held on Sunday, May 1st. This year we will serve beef stew again. Please plan to get involved in any way that you are able. There is a poster to record your participation. This is a very helpful event in our community outreach.
LADIES GROUP:
There has been some interest shown in providing a birthday party at Luther Home. This is in the early stages of planning. Watch for future announcements where hopefully we will be able to take a turn.
Also, another idea for the ladies to do is a sewing club. We might be able to put our skills together to help in some way. We will get together and brainstorm these two ideas. All are welcome to join in.
