YARD SALE – RAINBOW AUCTION
As part of this year’s yard sale we would like to offer a raffle. We are asking our members to donate anything new: Examples (Kitchen, household, health & beauty, outdoor, car items, books, gift certificates, coupons). Hopefully you can bring these items to the church by Sunday June 10th. Please label them as “RAFFLE" and place your name on them. If you have any questions, speak with Silvana @ 633-7925 or Linda @ 632-0093. We are also looking for good size baskets, containers or trays that we could use to display the raffle items.
FIESTA DAY
The West Kildonan Horticultural Society will be having their annual “Fiesta Day” on Sat. June 2, 10-2 pm (weather permitting) at Seven Oaks Arboretum, Partridge St. & Powers Ave. (behind the firehall on McGregor St.). CHURCH YARD SALE
The Church Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, June 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All proceeds raised will be used to support the youth from St. Luke’s Zion who will be travelling to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in August for the Canadian Lutheran Anglican Youth Gathering.
Saleable items can be brought to the church starting on the morning of Sunday, June 10th. All additional donations will be gladly accepted during the week of Sunday, June 10th to Friday, June 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. If you so desire, items can also be brought to the church early Saturday morning! (But earlier in the week would be preferred)
All yard sale donations will be sorted in the church basement prior to the sale. Since we have no means of collecting goods ourselves, please make your own arrangements for bringing all contributions (including big ticket items) to the church yard sale.
It is expected that the youth will be helping with the yard sale wherever needed, but extra helpers are always required for the set up on the morning of Saturday, June 16th, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. ( eg. carrying out tables, boxes and general set up.) In addition, extra helpers are also needed at the end of the day (4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) when we are packing items not sold and returning tables to the church basement. Perhaps you might like to help in some other way? (eg. Rainbow Auction; seller; helping with the food; bringing items to the sale.) If you can help in any way, please feel free to contact me at 633-4215 and let me know how you can assist to make this yard sale a success like in previous years. Any assistance you could provide would be very much appreciated by the youth of St. Luke’s Zion!
INSPIRATIONAL FATHER’S DAY QUOTES
"A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society."
-- Billy Graham
"The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother."
-- Theodore Hesburgh
"My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it."
-- Clarence Budington Kelland
"How true Daddy's words were when he said: 'All children must look after their own upbringing.' Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands."
-- Anne Frank
"It is much easier to become a father than to be one."
-- Kent Nerburn
What Makes A Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad
