Personal Mission Project
Claire DeCarle has taken on a personal mission project right now, selling books by author Valerie Minaker. The book is entitled God of the Impossible: the Life Lessons of Helena Peters. Helena Peters is a Christian who worked for many years with orphans in Kenya. The books cost $20 each, with $2 from the price of each book going to support an orphanage in Kenya. Those interested in the book are invited to speak to Claire about it.
Do you have any tall houseplants?
While we don’t have a lot of space for “wide” plants, we do have some space for tall ones in the sanctuary at St. Luke’s Zion. If you have such a plant that has outgrown your residence, please speak to Linda Edel. She would be willing to pick it up some time in May.
Adults considering Baptism
Pastor Lynne has started a “baptism blog” as a forum for conversation with adults who have never been baptized and want to think about it and ask questions. You can find the blog at baptismthoughts.blogspot.com. A link is also provided on the St. Luke’s Zion website.
The LBW’s or “Green” Hymnals
Congregational members who wish to take one or more copies of the LBW home are now invited to do so. The “blue” hymnals (WOV) are being temporarily kept in case we decide that we still need them.

News From N.E.S.T.
Good news! The “Romo” family from Bogota, Columbia; had arrived by Air Canada on Thursday afternoon on March 17th along with Jim and Ethel Mair as well as a “care giver” couple from Sherwood Park Lutheran Church. I was privileged to welcome them to Canada and to their new home in Winnipeg! The family: mother Mary, her son; Josimar (21), daughter; Jesika (16), son; Anderson (7), were temporarily housed at Welcome Place. It was good to have an interpreter (Spanish) to explain the immediate plans, and help in obtaining needed applications and documents (following 2 weeks). They seemed eager to learn and happy to get a little settled.
We hoped to have them attend N.E.S.T.’s March 22nd meeting (Grace Lutheran), and pray for our Lord’s blessings for a happy and peaceful future. This is a “Joint Assistance Sponsorship” – Canada Immigration provides financial support, and N.E.S.T. the T.L.C.
