Confirmation Speeches
Sunday, June 1st, 2008

Each student who was confirmed on Pentecost Sunday was asked to answer the following question: How is your life different when you believe in Jesus Christ? I thank each of them for allowing me to share their answers with you in this newsletter.

People who believe in Jesus have different lives than people who don’t believe in Jesus because Jesus teaches us how to respect one another as well as believe in Him and God. Our lives differ from people who don’t believe in Jesus because people who believe listen, pray to and respect our Lord Jesus. If you don’t do any of these things, your life is being wasted because God is our Creator and intended for us to believe in Him. Believers also have somebody to go to when in need and can pray to Him if they have nobody to go to, but non-believers have nobody to go to. This is why people who believe in Jesus have different lives than people who don’t believe in Jesus.
          -- Kyle Banera

Learning about Jesus showed me a different perspective on the things around me: Looking at the things you have done during the day and thinking what you could have done differently by asking yourself, “What would Jesus do?”
By asking yourself this you can correct the things you may do in the future by comparing the situation to one that Jesus went through. Saying to yourself, “What would Jesus do?” was taught to me in Sunday School as well as in confirmation classes, and I find it is the simplest way to be what God intended us to be.
          -- Daniel Banera

I believe that without Jesus in my life, my life would be completely different. There are many paths that a young person today could take. I believe that some of the crime that happens is because many young people don’t have Jesus to guide them in their life. Because of my faith, it has kept me away from peers that are getting into trouble and involved in crime.
Jesus is a good role model for his people as he treats everyone equally and tries to help people. I think sometimes that people make deals with Jesus. A person might pray and ask Jesus for something to work out in their lives. This might be the only time that they talk to him. They only want Jesus in their life when something isn’t going the way that they expected. People have many choices in life, and one of the choices they have is to follow Jesus to eternal life and continue to love him as we would love ourselves.
I think that having Jesus in my life keeps me on the right track. I have never been one to waste my time at school but now I am focused on my future and don’t want to waste my time. Jesus keeps me focused. He made sacrifices for all of us and we shouldn’t waste our time here on Earth.
Without Jesus in my life, I think that it would be incomplete. I am truly thankful that I have Jesus in my life to guide me.
