On Sunday, October 23rd, we celebrated Affirmation of Baptism (also known as Confirmation). As part of that service, Ryan shared his faith statement. It is printed here for those who missed it:
As most of you know, I am Ryan klapprat. I have been going to St Lukes as far back as I can remember. I have been in confirmation class for a couple of years now. In that time i have been asked who is jesus now that was a hard question to answer at the time it was asked but i think that jesus is Messiah of Israel, the right hand of the father the worker of miracles, he was the one who sacrifice himself for the sins of the world jesus is the person who traveled the world doing good deeds not for himself but for the sake of others now as i grow up my opinion on him my change but for now that is who i think he is
Jesus father god, he is different i know that it is said that the father, jesus, and the holy spirit they together make god who he is i just can't come to see how that is possible because i think they are all different people with different responsibility like jesus helped people in hard places and died for our sins in mortal form, the holy spirit is the Giver of Life and the father watches over us through life whether good or bad things happen, God is the one we pray to; he is the Creator of all things. He alone is eternal (he has existed before time and will exist long after it)
My Faith is very important to me because i believe that there is a power far greater than what my imagination is capable of understanding, god is someone that i can pray to when i am happy or sad or just when i need to talk to someone because i know that god will help me through any hurdle that i can't jump by myself he will never turn his back on me, but he may test my faith in him and no matter the outcome in the end i believe whatever god does he has a purpose for doing it.
My favorite statement by the First people of North America is that the earth is a gift for all people given by the creator and we should come to respect and cherish it
Joshua 1:9 (favourite verse):
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Thank you to Ryan for being willing to share his statement of faith with you. May all of us continue to grow in our faith and in our understanding as we learn what it means to follow Jesus.
In Christ,
Pastor Lynne Hutchison
