Prayer of the Day

Eloquent God, your missionaries spoke and people heard in every language. By the power of your Spirit, help us to speak in a way that we are heard, and help us to hear in a way that others are heard, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession

L:  We pray for the church, the world, and all those in need.

A brief silence.

L:  Gracious God, on the day of Pentecost, each one heard your word in a language they could understand. Empower your church to continue proclaiming your good news and sharing your love with those who need it the most. Transforming Spirit,

C: Hear our prayer.

L:  The giving of the Holy Spirit is a cosmic event, encompassing not only all people, but the whole universe you have made. Give us a vision as wide as we can handle, that we never set our sights too small in carrying out the work of your kingdom. Transforming Spirit,

C: Hear our prayer.

L:  Comfort all who live in constant fear in the midst of war, or abuse, or threats made due to sexual identity. Grant them the resources they need in order to experience peace, justice and safety.  Help them to know the power of your love and the gift of your peace. Transforming Spirit,

C: Hear our prayer.

L:  Spirit of life, pour out your healing upon each and every one of us, those with visible and invisible ailments, and those too afraid to ask for help. We ask your comfort for those who mourn and healing for all those we name before you now... Transforming Spirit,

C: Hear our prayer.

L:  For saints of all tongues, tribes, and traditions, we give you thanks. For every challenge and every joy that lies ahead, we bring our gratitude and ask your protective power. Make us one, O God, as only you can. Transforming Spirit,

C: Hear our prayer.
