God of love, with praise we celebrate Jesus, who humbled himself so that every knee should bend and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Teach us humility and service to others, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayers of Intercession
L: We pray for the church, the world, and all those in need.
A brief silence.
L: Loving God, as Christ humbled himself, even though he was divine, so may all of us in your church learn humility. Show us where we are blind to ourselves and ignorant of the harm we do to others, and make us a blessing rather than a burden to those we serve. Risen Lord,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: God of peace, we pray for our partner church the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan and the Holy Land, and for the Anglican Church of Canada's partner the Diocese of Jerusalem. Bless their ministry and their work for peace and justice in the region. Help us to remember the living stones, our siblings in Christ, that still live and worship in the land that we call holy. Risen Lord,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: At the name of Jesus, all creation stands in awe. As a child instinctively knows its parent, so does all of earth and heaven know its Creator. May we glorify our God in all we think, do, and say. Risen Lord,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Christ of suffering and pain, of resurrection and restoration, be close to those who need to know your healing presence. Today we lift up all those who are suffering in the midst of war and violence. We also lift up all who are on our hearts and minds, especially those we name before you now… Risen Lord,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: As your saints lived their lives to you, so keep us united in Christ and following his example of humble service. When our course on this earth is done, join us in eternal communion with all your saints. Risen Lord,
C: Hear our prayer.
Here other petitions may be offered.
L: In your mercy, hear our prayers, providing all that you see that we need, for we come in the name of Jesus. Amen.
