God of all who serve, when Jesus knelt to wash the feet of his friends, he taught us all a new way of being. Teach us to humble ourselves so that serving is our new normal, through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayers of Intercession
L: We pray for the church, the world, and all in need.
A brief silence.
L: Gracious God, your Son, Jesus, showed us the path of humble service. Make your church a faithful witness to Christ’s humility and service, and discipline those who teach your people to judge and to trample on others. God of love,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: You have always protected the vulnerable and stood for the voiceless. May we follow your law in a right spirit, so that all may justly benefit from your blessings, and no one presume themselves to be better than another. God of love,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: During this time of war in Ukraine, we continue to lift to you our prayers for peace. Strengthen those Russians who oppose this senseless destruction. Provide the necessities of life to those who are now refugees. Stop the aggressors in their tracks. God of love,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: We turn to you still in our lowest moments, in times of need, and when we long to be made whole.Pour out the full measure of your healing upon each of us, and especially upon those whom we name before you now... God of love,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: We remember before you those who have died, and today we remember Alice. Comfort those who mourn with your peace and with the hope of resurrection. Bring us together with all your saints into your kingdom of peace. God of love,
C: Hear our prayer.
Here other petitions may be offered.
L: Receive our prayers in your mercy, O God, for the sake of Jesus, our saviour and Lord. Amen.
