God of justice, you desire for us to cultivate compassion and work toward justice. Teach us to love as you love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayers of Intercession
L: We pray for the church, the world, and all those in need, praying God of justice, and responding “Hear our prayer.”
A brief silence.
L: Almighty God, our songs of praise, offerings of money and prayers for peace all ring hollow without our hands and feet working for your vision of reconciliation. Guide your church in never losing sight of what you are calling us to do. God of justice,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream, your kingdom has not fully come. Give us a hunger for your vision in this world we share with all your people and all your creatures. Empower our witness and strengthen our voices. God of justice,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: We remember those who have laid themselves on the line, and in some cases given their lives in service to their country. Heal their wounds, grant them fair access to treatment and services, and comfort the families of those who did not survive, assuring them that you hold their loved ones close. God of justice,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Lord, you invite all who thirst to come and drink of your living waters. Sustain the weary with your presence, and pour over them your healing power, especially those we name before you now... God of justice,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Bless the memory of all those who have turned from evil and fought for what is good, your saints of all times and places. Give us courage to follow their lead, and together share in the riches of your eternal kingdom. God of justice,
C: Hear our prayer.
Here other petitions may be offered.
L: You hear us, O God, before we even ask, and yet you welcome our prayers and hold them all in your loving embrace. Gather these together with all those offered on this day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
