Almighty God, Solomon built a temple so that people could have a place to worship you. Now, we are your living house. Show us how to express our praise no matter where we are, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayers of Intercession
L: We pray for the church, the world, and all those in need.
A brief silence.
L: O God, throughout the ages your people have built great temples in which to worship you, spires that reach to the sky and sanctuaries that glitter with beauty. Sanctify the ways in which we seek to honor you; yet cast our eyes beyond the stained glass, to the One in whom we place our hope. Eternal God,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Churches stand in every place on earth as a testimony to your global presence and promises. Make us good neighbors to those of other faiths, strengthen our witness to your vast love, and send your protection to those worldwide who suffer true persecution simply for living out their faith. Eternal God,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: As we celebrate the anniversary of your Church’s reformation, keep us steadfast as ever to your gospel as we grow in what it means to follow you in every age and generation. Eternal God,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: As the cloud of your presence fills the holy spaces, so descend upon us all with the balm of your healing Spirit. We especially ask your healing for those we name before you now... Eternal God,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Make us one with your faithful saints who join together in your heavenly home without walls, and inspire us by their example as we strive to follow where they have led. Eternal God,
C: Hear our prayer.
Here other petitions may be offered.
L: Bless these our prayers, and make us bold witnesses to the power of your grace by the power of your Spirit, through Jesus our Lord. Amen.
