Almighty God, you made this holy night shine with the brightness of the true Light. Grant that here on earth we may walk in the light of Jesus’ presence and in the last day wake to the brightness of his glory; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Prayers of Intercession
L: We pray for the church, the world, and all those in need, saying “Loving God,” and responding “Hear our prayer.”
A brief silence.
L: God of glory, renew your people in all this weary world. Stir up your church to join in the angel’s proclamation of the gospel, while at the same time embodying your presence among us. Loving God,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Heaven and earth rejoiced, and animals made space for the birth of Jesus. Teach us also to live in harmony with the earth and all your creatures. Loving God,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Sustain and bless all those who care for others this night. We remember especially first responders, doctors and nurses, and all those who work in hospitals and care homes. Loving God,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: Bless all who suffer with loneliness, illness or other difficulties on this night. Give your spirit’s healing presence to all who need it, especially those we name before you now... Loving God,
C: Hear our prayer.
L: We ask your comfort, O God, for all those who are grieving. Keep all of us united in your love, that we might be reunited in the presence of all your saints in light. Loving God,
C: Hear our prayer.
Here other petitions may be offered.
L: Our eyes look to you, O God, for all that is needed. Hear our prayers, and sustain us with your love until the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
